Strong Roots, Safe Future / Raíces Fuertes, Futuro Seguro

All day, Latin Academy

Latinos face disproportionate climate change impacts due to their concentration in high-risk areas, their reliance on weather-sensitive industries, and systemic vulnerabilities, but they are also a politically active group advocating for climate action and sustainable solutions to protect their communities and heritage.

Stop by our table to learn about the Latin Academy’s educational workshops, which touch on how climate change impact the Latiné community, and what can be done about it. We’ll also explore Spanish words and ideas connected to nature and the environment—like sol (sun), agua (water), el cambio climático (climate change), and tierra (earth)—while reflecting on how our traditions care for the planet. We’ll have free face painting with Latin American flags and nature symbols, along with interactive Spanish games that invite everyone to learn new words about the climate and test their skills.
