When are voting days?

Elections in the United States happen throughout the year. Depending on where you live, there may be primary elections in the spring or summer, special elections that can happen at any time, and general elections in the fall.

Key deadlines such as voter registration, mail ballot requests, and early voting periods often happen a month before an election takes place. Your state election office will list upcoming elections, registration deadlines, early voting dates, and ballot information so you know when and how to participate.

  1. Mark your state deadlines on your calendars by using these handy deadline tools.

  2. Remember to complete all of your housekeeping on voter registration well before election dates.

  3. Vote early if you can— the lines are often better, and it helps poll workers.
