Green Co-Op Council
The Green Co-op Council is a new organization bringing together co-op (and condo) owners who want to upgrade their buildings. We advocate for policies and resources like technical assistance, tax incentives, and bigger state investments in clean heat, so we can meet the goals of NYC's premiere climate law and reduce pollution for all of our neighbors.

In 2019, New York passed one of the most ambitious climate laws in the US: the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Under CLCPA, New York must be off fossil fuels, the drivers of climate change, by 2050. Spoiler: As of 2025, we are not on track.
NYC Local Law 97 places carbon caps on most buildings larger than 25,000 square feet. Caps phase in starting in 2024 and get more stringent from there.
