09/21/25: Save the Date for Street Works Earth
Join Make Justice Normal and Street Works for a joyful street arts and climate action festival in Jackson Heights, Queens, NYC, on September 21 (Sept 27 rain date).
We’re bringing together artists, neighbors, and changemakers to co-create art, share stories, and learn about how we can care for our planet and each other.

07/27/25: Mental wellness resource co-share 3
Join us on July 27, 5-7pm on zoom for the third mental wellness co-share, to check in with one another and build on the plans as they’ve evolved.

June 2025 sundays: Street resource share
Join Woodside on the Move, Waterfront Alliance, Street Works/MJN, Queens Mutual Aid, and more for Sunday meetups this June, 1-3pm on June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 to share resources, including voter education ahead of the June 24 primaries.

07/25/25: Vote in the “People’s Money”
From our friends at the Civic Engagement Commission: Folks in New York City, please vote in the nonpartisan, citywide participatory budgeting process by June 25! Projects on the ballot came from New Yorkers, and all New Yorkers 11 +, regardless of citizenship, can vote.
04/26/25: Earth Day in NYC
The Street Works team was out on the streets April 26th for Earth Day, along with hundreds of others participating in activities, DOT’s Car Free Earth Day!

03/23/25: Mental wellness resource co-share
Queens Mutual Aid held an in-person mental health resource sharing session on March 23, 3-5 p.m. ET at beloved 2nd Story Pilates & Yoga inviting the community to share what community led mental wellness spaces look like and how we should move forward.

02/15/25: South Queens Women's March welcome
Join Queens mutual aid for an intro to South Queens Women’s March on Feb 18, 6pm, on zoom. The SQWM amplifies the voices of South Queens’ diverse women. They are an all-volunteer multi-generational, intersectional platform taking sisterhood to the streets.

Queens mutual aid, hosted by Kaleidospace, Veggie Nuggets, and MJN/Street Works is supporting Elmhurst Community Partnership’s efforts to collect/donate warm clothes. We need your help!

12/02/24: Queens Mutual Aid Planning
Meeting 4: Monday Dec 2, 2024 @ 6pm on Zoom. We'll pick up where we left off in planning projects, and updates on political education topics that have come up. As always, we’ll hold space for how everyone is doing and new ideas.

Veggie Nuggets, Kaleidospace, and Street Works/MJN are held our 2nd small potluck on Sunday @ 7:30pm @ Suryaside Yoga, 49-06 Skillman Ave, Woodside, Queens, to continue planning next steps on mutual aid network building.

11/10/24: Queens Mutual Aid & Reflection
Veggie Nuggets, Kaleidospace, and Street Works/MJN held a small potluck on Sunday @ 4:30pm @ 2nd Story Pilates and Yoga Studio to start brainstorming what a local mutual aid network could look like, and more.

Remember Y(our) Connection: envisioning beauty and building compassion
Artist Spotlight: Learn about Remember Y(our) Connection, a 2024 Street Work Earth participant. This public participatory art project aims to cultivate relationships through dialogue and conversation about shared struggles and indigenous wisdom. They are presenting Mushroom Power! a creative thought exercise inspired by the power of mushrooms to cleans the environment.

All Street Collective: local communities responding to climate change
Artist Spotlight: Learn about All Street Collective, a 2024 Street Work Earth participant. This artist collective and gallery exhibits works by emerging and underrepresented artists and hosts programs spanning education, performance, music, and community-building. They will present Community Climate where attendees can participate in building an archive of Queens climate actions.

Jing (Ellen) Xu: small actions make big impacts
Artist Spotlight: Learn about Jing (Ellen) Xu, a 2024 Street Work Earth participant, she is a visual artist. For Street Work, she has created an interactive art installation of colorful foam and cardboard rocks reflecting on how small actions can tip the balance toward positive change for the planet and its oceans.

Action at work: meet the experts & contribute to action libraries
We’re working to bridge from experience and joy to practical actions that anyone can take. For us, action is about giving and receiving and resting when you need to.

Kaleidospace: seeding hope and creating healing spaces
Artist spotlight: learn about Kaleidospace, a 2024 Street Work Earth participant, performance ensemble, and community convenor. For Street Work, they’re developing a 2-part music & dance experience immersing us in the story of corporate imperialism and its roles in climate change, as well as the role of collective community-based action in seeding hope, hard work, and alternative healing spaces.
