2025 Street Works Earth

About

Sunday, September 21, 11am - 6pm, @ 34th Avenue & 78th Street, Queens, NY 11372

A festival that brings together artists, neighbors, & changemakers to co-create art and explore how we can care for our planet and each other. This year's event includes a career fair, Future@Work, for folks wondering what it means to work in climate & environmental justice — whether you're just starting out or seeking a new path.

Themes or “Micro-events”

Street Works Earth is shaped by many hands. The micro-events below are co-curated with partners who bring their own priorities and expertise. Other activities are curated by our team as part of the festival’s creative DNA. Together, they form a layered public space where needs, expression, and community meet. Click here to see all activities and how they overlap.

From ~12-2pm, we’ll fill the street with career conversations to help our neighbors build confidence about their futures. Co-designed with ALIGN, El Puente, We Act for Environmental Justice, Waterfront Alliance, Kaleidospace, Veggie Nuggets.

From thrifting tips and sneaker painting to fabric art, beading, and beauty without toxins, we sit at the crossroads of adorning our personal bodies and earth body. Co-designed with Kaleidospace and We Act for Environmental Justice.

Spaces for emotional well-being that recognize that mental health isn’t just individual; it’s shaped by relationships, environment, identity, and access to resources. Co-designed with Queens Mutual Aid.

Why

An incredible amount of creation happens in our public spaces — our streets, parks, plazas, and more. From graffiti art and performances, to chalk drawings and memorials.

Among street creators are artists who co-create art with passersby, in dialog with justice. In a time when democracy is at risk and collective participation is needed more than ever, we’re creating an annual ritual fostered by these artists, who unleash the brilliance of passersby and show us what we can create when we share power. Over time and scale, we hope this is one way for democracy to become a personal and joyful experience.
